Sure they are hypocrites, some of the ones that I know rail against the demon socialism but have government jobs or on social security and the women have had the abortions that their movement seeks to deny other women the rights to but they are not the fascist, racist red state droogs that the GOP relies on for shocktroops. The idiots are being played, culled and will soon be on the same pickup lists that others are…the now marginalized dummies are going to be culled, the most vicious will end up on the FBI and NSA watchlists and the FOX addicted morons will not even recognize the switch out when they are assimilated into the GOP Borg.

So in recognizing that not ALL teabaggers want to continue to be used as human penis extensions for Newt Gingrich and Dick Armey I would like to implore the saner elements to defect and let the berserkers go on without them towards their inevitable moment of glory when the full fury of the state will be used against them.

Going forward: An appeal to the sane tea partiers (not an oxymoron) – I will be posting this at many places where such folks hang out so the responses could be interesting.

1: DO NOT LISTEN TO GLENN BECK: Despite his appeal that is more a result of sly mass-marketing by wealthy interests and his Fox News soapbox (be aware that Fox mogul Rupert Murdoch has no qualms about dealing with the Communist Chinese and is only interested in the accrual of money and power) Beck is a Judas goat. Follow him and you are going to be led to the slaughter. Joining a cult of personality is not the answer, follow nobody and be your own leader. There are principled conservatives who believe in limited government and base their values on an actual belief system rather than bizarre rants like the dry drunk Beck whose ravings are more akin to those of a batshit crazy speed freak. I would recommend H.L. Mencken, Murray Rothbard, Justin Raimondo, Paul Craig Roberts or even old Pat Buchanan who despite having overdosed at the Republican Kool-Aid vat actually is a learned man who respects our nations institutions. You should also consider that Glenn Beck is a multi-millionaire who will be insulated in his gated mansion if and when all hell breaks loose, your purchasing of his books and merchandise fuel his opulent lifestyle while you are losing day by day as the system itself collapses. Think about it.

2: DO NOT USE VIOLENCE: It doesn’t work, is self-defeating and will be crushed by the state once it gets out of hand. Also it will give the government justification to use their police state powers to crack down on dissent – ALL dissent. Once violence is used you lose, have no illusions that you have a chance against the state no matter how many guns that you may have because their guns are bigger, their forces more trained and they have tanks, helicopters and bombs in addition to sophisticated crowd control devices such as LRAD. To any of your militia types who actually believe that an armed insurrection against the sitting government is possible just keep it in the back of your mind that a platoon of heavily armed marines would very quickly turn hundreds of you into something resembling low-grade hamburger meat. The state has already had dry runs at implementing martial law in cities, note the G20 meetings in Pittsburgh last year where the entire city was in lockdown. A much more effective method to fight tyranny is civil disobedience, just imagine what millions of you could do if instead of protesting you just stayed home one day on a weekday, it would bring the system to a halt. An additional word of advice is to not mimic the rabble who showed up in Washington for the GOP pogrom against Congress on the day the health care bill passed – threatening (including menacing and harassing) elected officials is a federal crime for which you are at risk of being arrested and prosecuted for. It is of the utmost importance that you recognize that the Republicans and the Democrats are both criminal organizations and do not care about you. Sarah Palin urges you to join the Republican party, Dick Armey of Freedom Works is a longtime Washington insider who is exploiting you and your movement, originally a more libertarian one along the lines of Ron Paul’s policy views has been hijacked by cynical big government Republican neocons. You turn to ‘saviors’ like Florida’s Marco Rubio but fail to realize that he is an opportunist and Jeb Bush’s protégé. You need to reject outright the Republican party – a legitimate independent movement is the ONLY hope for change. The neocon influence on the tea partiers is very great and rather than get into the nuances of how toppling or discrediting Obama serves their foreign policy goals just realize that the leading thinkers of these fifth columnists is rooted in their adulation of Communist Leon Trotsky. As for big government be mindful that George W. Bush presided over the biggest increase in the federal government since Lyndon B. Johnson’s Great Society programs only that Bush’s expansionism was in implementing a massive police state infrastructure that could be used against you at any minute…that is if it isn’t being used against you already. The Republicans are not the answer despite what the celebrity Palin says when urging you to support that criminal organization, they are every bit as vile as the DemocRATs. There is zero credibility in denouncing jobs programs, extensions of unemployment benefits and any program that actually gives something to the peasants when totally ignoring the effects of the Military Industrial Complex. I would stongly recommend all to view Dwight Eisenhower’s warnings of the ruinous effects of massive military spending. The phony war on terror is now being used as justification for this unsustainable abomination but something had to replace the Soviet Union as the evil enemy. 8: REACH OUT TO OTHERS: Realize that there are many on the left who agree with you on many issues and while you will not hear it on Fox there are liberals and progressives who hate the massive giveaway to the insurance industry as much as you do. It is also unacceptable to be forced to buy expensive insurance from the same parasites who have destroyed the system. The mandate to buy private insurance was originally a Republican idea that has been picked up by their criminal counterparts the Democrats and sold to Americans by Obama as legitimate reform rather than state sponsored redistribution of wealth to politically connected cronies and the corporations that finance their campaigns.

Just a question, how many of you were out there protesting Bush and Cheney and the neocons when they were destroying the constitution and blurring the definition of what it means to be a ‘terrorist’? I bet not too many participated in the demonstrations against the illegal wars or for that matter against torture, illegal surveillance and the secret prison gulags. Mencken, Murray Rothbard, Justin Raimondo, Paul Craig Roberts or even old Pat Buchanan who despite having overdosed at the Republican Kool-Aid vat actually is a learned man who respects our nations institutions. You should also consider that Glenn Beck is a multi-millionaire who will be insulated in his gated mansion if and when all hell breaks loose, your purchasing of his books and merchandise fuel his opulent lifestyle while you are losing day by day as the system itself collapses. Think about it.

2: DO NOT USE VIOLENCE: It doesn’t work, is self-defeating and will be crushed by the state once it gets out of hand. Also it will give the government justification to use their police state powers to crack down on dissent – ALL dissent. Once violence is used you lose, have no illusions that you have a chance against the state no matter how many guns that you may have because their guns are bigger, their forces more trained and they have tanks, helicopters and bombs in addition to sophisticated crowd control devices such as LRAD. To any of your militia types who actually believe that an armed insurrection against the sitting government is possible just keep it in the back of your mind that a platoon of heavily armed marines would very quickly turn hundreds of you into something resembling low-grade hamburger meat. The state has already had dry runs at implementing martial law in cities, note the G20 meetings in Pittsburgh last year where the entire city was in lockdown. A much more effective method to fight tyranny is civil disobedience, just imagine what millions of you could do if instead of protesting you just stayed home one day on a weekday, it would bring the system to a halt. An additional word of advice is to not mimic the rabble who showed up in Washington for the GOP pogrom against Congress on the day the health care bill passed – threatening (including menacing and harassing) elected officials is a federal crime for which you are at risk of being arrested and prosecuted for. I realize that Herr Beck is calling out the shocktroops to raise Cain for repeal and the pigs like John Boehner and Newt Gingrich are egging it on but consider very seriously if you want to be around if something ugly goes down.

3: REALIZE THAT OBAMA IS NOT A SOCIALIST: that is Obama is not a socialist in the true sense of the word in that the people are getting anything but the shaft. The only socialism in this rotting country is socialism for the rich (mammoth, deficit killing tax cuts), for bankers whose illicit gambling schemes have destroyed the economy and then received a taxpayer bailout from their cronies in both the Bush and Obama administrations and for catastrophic business failures, for example General Motors. The game is rigged folks and until you are able to break free of the phony left vs. right paradigm it will stay rigged. As robber baron industrialist Jay Gould once famously remarked “I can hire one half of the working class to kill the other half”- he was absolutely correct, just look at yourselves. The health care ‘reform’ bill is about the farthest thing from socialized medicine possible as it forces already busted out citizens to purchase protection from the insurance racketeers, if you want to see socialized medicine that actually works look at the Veteran’s Administration. If anything Obama is a fascist simply because he is the chief executive of a fascist country, labeling him as a socialist is absurd but not surprising considering the perversion of language in the U.S.A.

4: REALIZE THAT YOU ARE BEING USED BY THE REPUBLICAN PARTY: so that they can return to power. It is of the utmost importance that you recognize that the Republicans and the Democrats are both criminal organizations and do not care about you. Sarah Palin urges you to join the Republican party, Dick Armey of Freedom Works is a longtime Washington insider who is exploiting you and your movement, originally a more libertarian one along the lines of Ron Paul’s policy views has been hijacked by cynical big government Republican neocons. You turn to ‘saviors’ like Florida’s Marco Rubio but fail to realize that he is an opportunist and Jeb Bush’s protégé. You need to reject outright the Republican party – a legitimate independent movement is the ONLY hope for change. The neocon influence on the tea partiers is very great and rather than get into the nuances of how toppling or discrediting Obama serves their foreign policy goals just realize that the leading thinkers of these fifth columnists is rooted in their adulation of Communist Leon Trotsky. As for big government be mindful that George W. Bush presided over the biggest increase in the federal government since Lyndon B. Johnson’s Great Society programs only that Bush’s expansionism was in implementing a massive police state infrastructure that could be used against you at any minute…that is if it isn’t being used against you already. The Republicans are not the answer despite what the celebrity Palin says when urging you to support that criminal organization, they are every bit as vile as the DemocRATs. To quote a man named Professor Carroll Quigley who some of you are probably familiar with:

“The argument that the two parties should represent opposed ideals and policies, one, perhaps, of the Right and the other of the Left, is a foolish idea acceptable only to doctrinaire and academic thinkers. Instead, the two parties should be almost identical, so that the American people can ‘throw the rascals out’ at any election without leading to any profound or extensive shifts in policy”

5: OBAMA IS NOT THE PROBLEM- THE SYSTEM ITSELF IS THE PROBLEM: Shift your focus and energies from a monstrously bad health care ‘reform’ bill because it is a done deal no matter how the Republican operatives running the tea party try to spin it. This bill was the product of a corporate system that is rotten to the core. The enemy is the system itself no matter how Glenn Beck and other shills for the oligarchy try to spin it and pin the blame on Obama. It is the system that evolved over years under BOTH Republican and Democrat administrations and Congresses that has been responsible for shipping well paying American jobs out of America, building a police state and waging expensive wars that are destroying the future of America by burying in debt to China and allowing the Federal Reserve and the corrupt gangsters on Wall Street to print money non-stop and use it to engage in reckless gambling that creates nothing but debt. The current system must be replaced entirely, simply returning Republicans to power is not the answer.

6: UNDERSTAND THAT YOU ARE BEING MARGINALIZED: Like the antiwar hippie left you are slowly being turned into cartoons. The corporate media will always find the most extreme and embarrassing element in your crowd to feature in news stories. Despite the wide resistance to the Vietnam war that included mainstream Americans it was always some peace sign festooned, acid-juiced hippie freak that would be singled out by the media. The same thing is happening now with every racist freak and mentally unbalanced dead ender who runs amok in an isolated incident being used to produce a guilt by association effect. Also, elitist pig columnist David Brooks over at the damned librul [sic] New York Times has already snarkily pegged you as Wal-Mart Hippies. Look to become a mockery just like the peaceniks and dopehead Che Guevera and Chariman Mao worshipping types who were burning their draftcards way back in the day…it’s already happening and only you are to blame for it though you tolerance for white supremacist crazies and religious zealots.

7: CRYING BLOODY MURDER ABOUT DEFICTS IS HYPOCRISY: Other than the Ron Paul folks I didn’t see anyone out at tea parties until CNBC’s Wall Street pimp Rick Santelli’s little snit that activated sleeper cells. First and foremost where was your revolt when Bush and the Republicans were maxing out the national credit cards? Also, what is missing from any outrage over the massive Chinese financed debt is that there is ZERO acknowledgement that U.S. military spending is by far the biggest, most wasteful and most expensive contributor to the impoverishment of future generations. There is zero credibility in denouncing jobs programs, extensions of unemployment benefits and any program that actually gives something to the peasants when totally ignoring the effects of the Military Industrial Complex. I would stongly recommend all to view Dwight Eisenhower’s warnings of the ruinous effects of massive military spending. The phony war on terror is now being used as justification for this unsustainable abomination but something had to replace the Soviet Union as the evil enemy. I would also suggest that you start to protest the billions of dollars in both military and foreign aid that is sent outside out borders rather than used to shore up our crumbling infrastructure, to promote re-industrialization that would put Americans back to work and pay down the deficit. You will never hear this taboo truth from Glenn Beck, Barack Obama, the DemocRATs or the Republicans but it is the chief reason that we are slouching towards bankruptcy as a nation, both financially and morally.

8: REACH OUT TO OTHERS: Realize that there are many on the left who agree with you on many issues and while you will not hear it on Fox there are liberals and progressives who hate the massive giveaway to the insurance industry as much as you do. It is also unacceptable to be forced to buy expensive insurance from the same parasites who have destroyed the system. The mandate to buy private insurance was originally a Republican idea that has been picked up by their criminal counterparts the Democrats and sold to Americans by Obama as legitimate reform rather than state sponsored redistribution of wealth to politically connected cronies and the corporations that finance their campaigns.

Just a question, how many of you were out there protesting Bush and Cheney and the neocons when they were destroying the constitution and blurring the definition of what it means to be a ‘terrorist’? I bet not too many participated in the demonstrations against the illegal wars or for that matter against torture, illegal surveillance and the secret prison gulags. Nope, it took Glenn Beck, Sarah Palin and a black man in the White House who is called everything from a Communist to the AntiChrist.

This is your wake up call now, principled civil libertarians have been outraged at how our civil liberties have been destroyed for years and none of you seemed to care when Bush was setting up the police state, or ‘free speech’ zones, or spying on Americans. Now you are getting what you deserve having thrown in with the violent browshirt scum of the fascist Republican base instead of following Ron Paul and the principled non-violent message.

The next knock at your door may be Homeland Security.

Those are my words of advise to those of you who are able to save yourselves from the eventual plunge into the abyss that you are being dragged into by your worst elements and the cynical, crazed Republicans who are using you all in their desperation to return themselves to control of the spoils system. This thing is not going to end well for most of those people, it is inevitable that there is going to be an incident (y’all are notorious for blowing up government buildings filled with women and children) that will trigger the USA PATRIOT Act (that none of you opposed) to be used against you as domestic terrorists. Heed my words of warning and you can save yourselves from the conflagration of violence that will arrive when the berserkers that you have affiliated yourselves with cross that line. Last week it was bricks and broken windows, cursing and spitting on black people and mob intimidation that to no surprise already has your movement on the FBI and Homeland Security’s radar. And as for the Republicans who are stoking the rage and using your numbers and anger to their advantage just what do you think is going to happen if they are successful in using angry and violent mobs to return to power? Given your ignorance of history considering that your tea parties are actually in a true historical context supporting the rule of the British monarchy I would doubt that many of you have heard of the Night of the Long Knives.

An ominous trend is beginning to creep into the so-called progressive blogosphere, it is the now common censorship of more radical expression that at one time was acceptable in many areas yet has become taboo in the era of Obama. The recent swarm attack against Dennis Kucinich by phony liberal organizations like MoveOn.org for his holdout on the insurance industry windfall that is your new national healthcare ‘reform’ bill was evidence of the purge of heretics from the Rahm Emanuel corporate co-opted ‘left’. I am certain that everyone reading anything that I do has been subjected to some form of censorship, banning, troll-rating or comment hiding at what are cynically foisted off as free speech oriented liberal/progressive or for that matter inclusive independent blogs for being critical of our God chosen very special friends in Israel, that goes with the territory. It is pretty commonly understood that the genocidal Zionists have for years recruited operatives to blogswarm, bully and tar as anti-Semitic those who dare to shine the light on human rights abuses, war crimes and atrocities that should have the Israeli leaders in the dock at the Hague, that is just something that has to be dealt with when blogging. As my old southern buddy Mikey used to say “if you’re going to play in NASCAR you should expect to get more than a few dings” but the siege has often resulted in the even more chilling self-censorship in the fear that ANY conversation regarding Israel and the Palestinians is verboten. Take for example a place called Docudharma where I have occasionally posted, to venture into calling out Zionist aggression in any way, shape or form will nearly instantaneously have one ostracized. I single DD out because I have witnessed it there, it was a spinoff from Markos Moulitsas-Zuniga’s (who is as left wing as Stalin) Daily Kos which is notorious for the policing of cynics, skeptics, doubters and above all else – critics of Israel.

But I digress…

The creeping menace of liberal/progressive blog censorship has hit me again this week, I only bring this up because it was over at OpEd News, a forum that I have been a regular at for years, have contributed articles to and have commented on many. It was always an open forum albeit since it gets a good deal of exposure there needed to be a bit of discretion used in using certain terms which is an understandable tradeoff for the exposure that an article could get due to the crossover appeal of OEN – my series on Main Core, PROMIS and the Shadow Government as well as some things that I did on 9/11 received attention elsewhere due to OEN.

This week though, I ran afoul of the censors for a comment that I had posted on a Rob Kall article entitled: Will Supreme Court Kill the Obama Health Care Reform Plan? which addressed the possibility that the fascist John Roberts and his Federalist Society and Opus Dei cronies would in activist fashion overturn Obamacare in much the way that they inistalled George W. Bush in the White House by oveturning a Gore victory in 2000. I posted a sardonic reply suggesting a bumper sticker slogan of “Hang The Robes” which turned into an extended flame war with a traveler who in his third reply or so admitted to being a Birther. The thing was ultimately flagged and deleted by one of OEN’s Daily Kos styled ‘editiors’ in charge of selecting what to flush down the memory hole. I certainly wasn’t advocating the murder of federal judges, just their impeachment but a scumbagger got his star-spangled panties in a bunch and enough of them cried when confronted with someone who didn’t roll over for their brownshirt bullying. I would have posted the entire thread but it’s been disappeared so I have to settle with the my final response:

After all of your embarrassing and disgusting rabble rousing you still went down in defeat to a bill that is horrible across the board and a giveaway to the parasitical insurance industry. Thanks to you schmucks we are ALL screwed but the big money boys are laughing all the way to the bank on your easily exploited gullibility AGAIN!

That is what you get for allowing yourselves to be used as human penis extensions for hard core Republican swine like Newt Gingrich and Dick Armey.

My advice to you is to forget about the Birther fantasies and get a life along with the rest of your moonbat buddies.

Now the whole thing was pretty mild, certainly not the high octane Encho rants that have been launched elswhere but the fascist bullies and the jelly-spined OEN editors succeeded in getting the comment and all subsequent comments removed. Again, this is but one example of what is going on right now and it’s alarming because it is occurring in forums where free speech had at one time been sanctified….and this isn’t the only time of late that I have been stomped on by administrators who decided that towing the line, not offending those who lack the intestinal fortitude to realize that we are at war, a cold civil war that could turn hot at any moment given the Republican Gladio droogs of the teabagger movement – which is becoming violent in a similar way that the Sturmabteilung did all those years ago. Maybe this is just a personal bug up my ass, it sure bothers me though because now is the time when we must become more vocal, more angry, more passionate in denouncing the fascist takeover of America.

Truth Has Fallen and Taken Liberty With It

There was a time when the pen was mightier than the sword. That was a time when people believed in truth and regarded truth as an independent power and not as an auxiliary for government, class, race, ideological, personal, or financial interest.

Today Americans are ruled by propaganda. Americans have little regard for truth, little access to it, and little ability to recognize it.

Truth is an unwelcome entity. It is disturbing. It is off limits. Those who speak it run the risk of being branded “anti-American,” “anti-semite” or “conspiracy theorist.”

Truth is an inconvenience for government and for the interest groups whose campaign contributions control government.

Truth is an inconvenience for prosecutors who want convictions, not the discovery of innocence or guilt.

Truth is inconvenient for ideologues.

Today many whose goal once was the discovery of truth are now paid handsomely to hide it. “Free market economists” are paid to sell offshoring to the American people. High-productivity, high value-added American jobs are denigrated as dirty, old industrial jobs. Relicts from long ago, we are best shed of them. Their place has been taken by “the New Economy,” a mythical economy that allegedly consists of high-tech white collar jobs in which Americans innovate and finance activities that occur offshore. All Americans need in order to participate in this “new economy” are finance degrees from Ivy League universities, and then they will work on Wall Street at million dollar jobs.

Economists who were once respectable took money to contribute to this myth of “the New Economy.”

And not only economists sell their souls for filthy lucre. Recently we have had reports of medical doctors who, for money, have published in peer-reviewed journals concocted “studies” that hype this or that new medicine produced by pharmaceutical companies that paid for the “studies.”

The Council of Europe is investigating the drug companies’ role in hyping a false swine flu pandemic in order to gain billions of dollars in sales of the vaccine.

The media helped the US military hype its recent Marja offensive in Afghanistan, describing Marja as a city of 80,000 under Taliban control. It turns out that Marja is not urban but a collection of village farms.

And there is the global warming scandal, in which NGOs. the UN, and the nuclear industry colluded in concocting a doomsday scenario in order to create profit in pollution.

Wherever one looks, truth has fallen to money.

Wherever money is insufficient to bury the truth, ignorance, propaganda, and short memories finish the job.

I remember when, following CIA director William Colby’s testimony before the Church Committee in the mid-1970s, presidents Gerald Ford and Ronald Reagan issued executive orders preventing the CIA and U.S. black-op groups from assassinating foreign leaders. In 2010 the US Congress was told by Dennis Blair, head of national intelligence, that the US now assassinates its own citizens in addition to foreign leaders.

When Blair told the House Intelligence Committee that US citizens no longer needed to be arrested, charged, tried, and convicted of a capital crime, just murdered on suspicion alone of being a “threat,” he wasn’t impeached. No investigation pursued. Nothing happened. There was no Church Committee. In the mid-1970s the CIA got into trouble for plots to kill Castro. Today it is American citizens who are on the hit list. Whatever objections there might be don’t carry any weight. No one in government is in any trouble over the assassination of U.S. citizens by the U.S. government.

As an economist, I am astonished that the American economics profession has no awareness whatsoever that the U.S. economy has been destroyed by the offshoring of U.S. GDP to overseas countries. U.S. corporations, in pursuit of absolute advantage or lowest labor costs and maximum CEO “performance bonuses,” have moved the production of goods and services marketed to Americans to China, India, and elsewhere abroad. When I read economists describe offshoring as free trade based on comparative advantage, I realize that there is no intelligence or integrity in the American economics profession.

Intelligence and integrity have been purchased by money. The transnational or global U.S. corporations pay multi-million dollar compensation packages to top managers, who achieve these “performance awards” by replacing U.S. labor with foreign labor. While Washington worries about “the Muslim threat,” Wall Street, U.S. corporations and “free market” shills destroy the U.S. economy and the prospects of tens of millions of Americans.

Americans, or most of them, have proved to be putty in the hands of the police state.

Americans have bought into the government’s claim that security requires the suspension of civil liberties and accountable government. Astonishingly, Americans, or most of them, believe that civil liberties, such as habeas corpus and due process, protect “terrorists,” and not themselves. Many also believe that the Constitution is a tired old document that prevents government from exercising the kind of police state powers necessary to keep Americans safe and free.

Most Americans are unlikely to hear from anyone who would tell them any different.

I was associate editor and columnist for the Wall Street Journal. I was Business Week’s first outside columnist, a position I held for 15 years. I was columnist for a decade for Scripps Howard News Service, carried in 300 newspapers. I was a columnist for the Washington Times and for newspapers in France and Italy and for a magazine in Germany. I was a contributor to the New York Times and a regular feature in the Los Angeles Times. Today I cannot publish in, or appear on, the American “mainstream media.”

For the last six years I have been banned from the “mainstream media.” My last column in the New York Times appeared in January, 2004, coauthored with Democratic U.S. Senator Charles Schumer representing New York. We addressed the offshoring of U.S. jobs. Our op-ed article produced a conference at the Brookings Institution in Washington, D.C. and live coverage by C-Span. A debate was launched. No such thing could happen today.

For years I was a mainstay at the Washington Times, producing credibility for the Moony newspaper as a Business Week columnist, former Wall Street Journal editor, and former Assistant Secretary of the U.S. Treasury. But when I began criticizing Bush’s wars of aggression, the order came down to Mary Lou Forbes to cancel my column.

The American corporate media does not serve the truth. It serves the government and the interest groups that empower the government.

America’s fate was sealed when the public and the anti-war movement bought the government’s 9/11 conspiracy theory. The government’s account of 9/11 is contradicted by much evidence. Nevertheless, this defining event of our time, which has launched the US on interminable wars of aggression and a domestic police state, is a taboo topic for investigation in the media. It is pointless to complain of war and a police state when one accepts the premise upon which they are based.

These trillion dollar wars have created financing problems for Washington’s deficits and threaten the U.S. dollar’s role as world reserve currency. The wars and the pressure that the budget deficits put on the dollar’s value have put Social Security and Medicare on the chopping block. Former Goldman Sachs chairman and U.S. Treasury Secretary Hank Paulson is after these protections for the elderly. Fed chairman Bernanke is also after them. The Republicans are after them as well. These protections are called “entitlements” as if they are some sort of welfare that people have not paid for in payroll taxes all their working lives.

With over 21 per cent unemployment as measured by the methodology of 1980, with American jobs, GDP, and technology having been given to China and India, with war being Washington’s greatest commitment, with the dollar over-burdened with debt, with civil liberty sacrificed to the “war on terror,” the liberty and prosperity of the American people have been thrown into the trash bin of history.

The militarism of the U.S. and Israeli states, and Wall Street and corporate greed, will now run their course. As the pen is censored and its might extinguished, I am signing off.

He strode into the chambers with head held high, a spring in his step, he was now in his full glory, in conquered territory and it was glorious. Bibi Netanyahu had the red carpet rolled out for him by the U.S. Congress, it was an abominable display of fecklessness and fealty by a body that has approval ratings lower than whaleshit but with their royal treatment of the drunk on hubris Israeli Prime Minister showed that despite the rhetoric and histrionics over the malarkey that is health care reform that they can still come together for that which is truly important. It was a telling moment about the loyalties of our elected so-called representatives, there was unity towards a common cause and it wasn’t in rebuilding the American economy, putting the jobless back to work, fixing the abortion of a health care bill in which a forced mandate to buy protection from the same insurance parasites has been rammed up all of our asses by the state’s jackboot, repairing crumbling infrastructure, upgrading education or halting foreclosures. It was a unifier of the treacherous charlatans that only falls short of the adulation for baseball sterioids dog and pony shows and the accompanying witch hunts where muscular (albeit chemically enhanced) man children take to the stand to tearfully admit their sins and subject themselves to the tirades and hectoring of America’s must useless institution short of the judiciary.

Bibi has won for the time being, the key for the continuation of Zionist genocidal policies is in being able to keep the cash flowing from the U.S. taxpayer to finance the bombs to blow the dirty Arabs back to Allah so that God’s chosen people can be free to murder Palestinian women and children, steal their land and harvest their organs. Pat Buchanan had it dead on when he referred to Congress as “Israeli occupied territory” so dig deep, the taxman will continue to extract your money to support a war crazed paranoid colony of sand niggers hellbent on nuking Iran and kicking off a war that will ultimately make the body count from WW II seem like chump change. Their sleazy neocon propagandists have been busier than usual lately in prepping the battlefield for Bibi’s visit, Herr Kraüthaummmer among others is holding court at the WaPo and the insipid Abe Foxman of the McCarthyist smear shop ADL has been a prominent spear carrier after the Biden incident.

The most interesting aspect of this current “family feud” as deeply embedded Israeli mole Joe Lieberman called it is that a former neocon darling, General David Petraeus has gone rogue, it didn’t get much play here in our Tiger Woods obsessed media (to no surprise) but the bunker buster revelation that our real life General James Mattoon Scott actually came out AGAINST America’s one-sided worship of Israeli war criminals is stunning. In a January CENTCOM briefing Petraeus dared to blaspheme the nature of the special relationship:

In his prepared testimony, Petraeus, who until now has been hailed by many pro-Likud neoconservatives as the greatest U.S. military commander of his generation and possible presidential material 2012, argued that “Arab anger over the Palestinian question limits the strength and depth of U.S. partnerships with governments and peoples in the AOR [CENTCOM’s Area of Responsibility] and weakens the legitimacy of moderate regimes in the Arab world.”

“Meanwhile, al-Qaeda and other militant groups exploit that anger to mobilize support. The conflict also gives Iran influence in the Arab world through its clients, Lebanese Hezbollah and Hamas,” he added.

Elaborating on that theme, he said that “A credible U.S. effort on Arab-Israeli issues that provides regional governments and populations a way to achieve a comprehensive settlement of the disputes would undercut Iran’s policy of militant ‘resistance,’ which the Iranian regime and insurgent groups have been free to exploit.”

“[P]rogress toward resolving the political disputes in the Levant, particularly the Arab-Israeli conflict, is a major concern for CENTCOM,” he asserted, adding that the persistence of the Arab-Israeli conflict had an “enormous effect” on the strategic context in which we operate….”

Daniel Levy, an Israeli former peace negotiator based at the New America Foundation, said, “To the extent to which the latest events have given rise to a debate over whether there is linkage between a broader American security interest and a credible peace process, Petraeus weighed in today in the most unequivocal terms by articulating at some length not only the existence of that interest and linkage, but also just how front and center it is to the military.”

“What Petraeus made clear – and that should be a wake-up call for Israel – is that the unresolved Palestinian-Israeli conflict and the entrenched occupation are placing an increasingly unbearable burden on the U.S.-Israel relationship, and the best way to address it would obviously be to resolve that conflict,” he added.

The Petraeus flipping scrambled the squadrons of winged monkeys here in Der Heimat, notably the aforementioned Abe Foxman whose ADL launched a smear campaign against the wayward General and his vile anti-Semitic comments. I remember not so long ago when Petraeus was worshipped by the neocons, especially the three-headed monster of Lieberman, McCain and Graham so his speaking of the inconvenient truth had to be stomped on and hard before any other warmongers wandered off the ranch. This would seem like an indication that Obama may just have the military behind him (or at least a good part of it) and there could be one very serious rumble brewing between the two factions being the neocon shadow government and the actual elected government. I have long suspected hard core Zionist elements aligned with the U.S. Cheneyites in the cutthroat style of American Gladio campaign that is being waged against Obama utilizing the idiotic Beckers, the tea party turds and the previously mentioned weasels in the Israeli occupied U.S. Congress. What has been occuring is a pretty transparent campaign of destabilization and de-legitimization against what now appears (Biden’s shameful bootlicking aside) to be an administration that may finally be one that stands against Israeli genocide and human rights abuses. Whether the Netanyahu government backs down is yet to be decided but early indications are that the hostility in the alleged holy land will continue to be ratched up with illegal settlements until there is an eruption of state sponsored beatings, rapes and slaughter, napalming and running over people with bulldozers so the fanatical settlers can light their illicit cribs with light emanating from behind lampshades made of Palestinian skin and to drink the blood of dead babies for Passover wearing yarmulkes made out of hollowed out human skulls.

The ugliness of the Republican dirty war has gone to the next level following the humiliation of the passage of the malodorous health care bill on Sunday and accounts of Naziesque acts of right wing violence are already being reported like this pogrom inciting redneck yahoo from the asshole of America known as Alabama: Democratic Offices Vandalized Across the Country. This seems to be eerily reminiscent of a certain historical event that may ring a bell: Kristallnacht. I find it pretty ironic (and hypocritical as hell) that many Zionist right-wing Jews are down with this sort of despicable thuggery but it suits their agendas and that agenda of course is to take down the Pope of Hope with extreme prejudice and get on with the Palin administration and the PNAC global domination tour II. Don’t think for one second that Sarah Palin’s wearing of the Israeli flag pin during the grand scumbagger soiree in Nashville (or wherever in that fucking hick hellhole Tennesse) as well as recent comments goading Obama into attacking Iran aren’t carefully orchestrated by the Cheney shadow government and their influential propagandists like Herr Kristol. By rousting the domestic rabble with their vicious smear campaigns and S.A. Brownshirt Beckers out in full force it will also draw in the Rapturheads who need a Middle Eastern conflagration for Jesus to come back and for them to fly up to God dirty nasty nekkid to lovingly view the rest of us suffer. If the fascist swine RepubliKKKans are to retake Congress in November (as they likely will) look for impeachment proceedings to be launched against Obama.

That is if the whole shebang doesn’t blow sooner than that which is possible. In a disturbing bit of news there are shitloads of big fucking bombs being shipped to Diego Garcia right now for a likely strike against Iran that will bomb them back to the stone age and trigger the war that finally brings Jesus Fucking Christ back to avenge himself ala Timothy LaHaye’s Jesus V.2 and the Raptureheads can just stop dancing around like gerbils high on McChrystal meth at their idiotic Becker bund rallies and blissfully float dirty nasty nekkid up to sat at the food of God’s throne while the rest of us infidels are left to tear each other to shreds with our rotting from nuclear fallout teeth, pound each other into submission with our boil covered arms and be eaten alive by gigantic insects like something out of Starship Troopers (hey, it’s more realistic than that psilocybin and moldy goat cheese conjured fever dream that is the Book of Revelations) for their amusement. Then again maybe not, maybe we’ll all just perish in the ensuing ball of fire when everyone keys in the launch codes – The missiles are flying. Hallelujah, Hallelujah!

So as the Rapture clock continues to tick towards the witching hour and the Republicans and their droogs go into full battle mode in the hope that one of their idiotic militia types decides to undertake a mission from God against Obama the Antichrist maybe some of the more rational and pragmatic types versed in Realpolitik in the Pentagon should do as the immortal General Buck Turgidson in Dr. Strangelove suggested “If…we were to immediately launch an all-out and coordinated attack on all their airfields and missile bases we’d stand a damn good chance of catchin ’em with their pants down”. ….and launch a premptive strike on all Israeli nuclear facilities, airbases and military strongholds in order to prevent World War III and force a regime change in Tel Aviv where the maniacal zealots can be removed from power so that the path to peace will be unimpeded. Hey, it’s outside of the box thinking like this that made America great.

But of course any sort of thinking is of course a fantasy, just as likely as say many of the zany teabaggers reaching the literacy level of eighth graders, the Israeli embeds in the U.S. media will continue to treat borderline retards throwing temper tantrums as legitimate political opposition, the bought and paid for (and threatened and blackmailed) Congress will continue to rubber stamp weapons of mass destruction for Israel’s wars of aggression and the military will fall into line lest the obscene profits of neverending holy wars in the Middle East (and Eurasia) be cut off, there is much money in trafficking in death and after all, it is our top export these days. And of course Lieberman and McCain like the true maggots in the mix that they are will continue their ongoing destabilization of America while they are given cover by the FOX propagandists and the ongoing harvest of the low-hanging fruit that fills the kettles of the tea partiers. Next up for the dynamic duo is the Enemy Belligerent Act which is just one more nail in the coffin of liberty and is directed at folks like us, you know, the white folks out on the internet like Jihad Jane.

It would be nice to see DARPA and the Military Industrial Complex start spending more money on something a bit more forward thinking other than tanks, flechette bombs and the rest of that boondoggle bullshit – how about a real functional time machine? That would be wonderful, they could test it on Lieberman first, just strap his scrawny ass in and set the dials for Auschwitz.

Fragmentation

One of the blogs or web sites I [Ed #2] regularly scan is called GlobalGuerillas, run by a fellow named John Robb, an important voice in what is termed elsewhere 4GW (and 5GW?. When you get there, read the banner at the top of the page, and the “about” so you’ll get a better sense of who he is. Wade through some of the rest of it, too, if it strikes your fancy. I don’t always agree with him; in some cases, I don’t, and in some cases he flat out pisses me off. But that’s okay… He is an important voice in the world of today, not to be brushed away dismissively like an annoying cob web. You fail to understand what he knows at your own peril.

That said, his commentary entitled “Rage and Health Care” carries more than one truism. Here it is:

RAGE AND HEALTH CARE
Here’s some fun thinking about drivers of political fragmentation and the slow failure of America.

We expect the universe to make sense, to be consistent, and when the contingencies change we get testy. Interestingly, this is not unique to humans. In one experiment, two pigeons were placed in a cage. One of them was tethered to the back of the cage while the other was free to run about as it wished. Every 30 seconds, a hopper would provide a small amount of food (a fixed interval schedule, as described earlier). The free pigeon could reach the food but the tethered one could not, and the free pigeon happily ate all the food every time. After an hour or so of this, the hopper stops providing food. The free pigeon continues to check the hopper every 30 seconds for a while, but when it’s clear that the food isn’t coming, it will go to the back of the cage and beat up the other pigeon. Now, the interesting thing is that the tethered pigeon has never eaten the food and the free pigeon has no reason to think the other is responsible for the food stopping. The frustration is irrational, but real nonetheless. John Hopson, a game researcher at Microsoft.

The above example illustrates the driver behind the furor over the passage of health care legislation in the US. The trigger, or the change in the game (the economic system) that prompted the confusion and anger we see today was the 2008 financial crisis. The inchoate anger this crisis caused is now being directed against the US government and the party in power. Here’s a fuller explanation for this.

We have collectively developed the belief that the capitalist system that we work in and our system of governance, although very messy at times and often harsh, is fundamentally fair. The financial collapse proved that these beliefs were completely unfounded and we (collectively) were fools for believing in such nonsense. Here’s how this realization rolled out, step by step.

First, the meager rewards of system (the status quo game) stopped coming:

* Easy, endless debt in lieu of gains in income (for increasingly productive hard work) was either made impossible to get or converted into usurious debt.
* Wealth, particularly in the form of home values/pensions/expected future earnings, evaporated.
* Incomes tumbled (cut backs in hours, permanent to temp status, outsourcing, or outright termination) while prices (education to health in particular) kept accelerating.

Second, in contrast to the game depicted above (where the pigeon was first given regular rewards and then suddenly and without explanation denied those rewards), it was now generally known why our rewards for participation in the system had at first dwindled and finally stopped: our capitalist system had become so corrupt that a relatively small group of people were able to perpetrate the greatest financial theft in the history of mankind.

The final and most damning step in this process was how that even after this theft had become public knowledge (on the front page of every newspaper from here to Timbuktu), the governmental system we expected to punish malfeasance didn’t work. Not only didn’t it work by failing to punish these traitors (as those who damage a nation in the worst possible way are termed) for their acts, it actually rewarded them. It made them rich with hundreds of billions of dollars in bailouts and tens of trillions in public guarantees (to protect them against losses on their future thefts), in effect extending them a golden invitation to pillage our future again.

As the event dwindled into history, the anger didn’t. It became diffuse and festered. Some of it eventually found a home, directed (or redirected, if you think the public is easily manipulated) against the government and the prevailing party, particularly as it pushed forward changes in the health care system. For many the connection was that this is yet another theft, either by the health industry that wrote the bill or a government that wants to redistribute wealth via expansion of coverage.

In the end, absent a real catharsis to purge the sense of betrayal generated by the original treasonous theft, the legitimacy of the US government will continue to sink. Worse, all bets are off when the next financial theft occurs. The disorder and fragmentation that will result from another event of that type will be terrible in its consequences.

We Stand on the Cusp of one of Humanity’s Most Dangerous Moments

Aleksandr Herzen, speaking a century ago to a group of anarchists about how to overthrow the czar, reminded his listeners that it was not their job to save a dying system but to replace it: “We think we are the doctors. We are the disease.” All resistance must recognize that the body politic and global capitalism are dead. We should stop wasting energy trying to reform or appeal to it. This does not mean the end of resistance, but it does mean very different forms of resistance. It means turning our energies toward building sustainable communities to weather the coming crisis, since we will be unable to survive and resist without a cooperative effort.

These communities, if they retreat into a pure survivalist mode without linking themselves to the concentric circles of the wider community, the state and the planet, will become as morally and spiritually bankrupt as the corporate forces arrayed against us. All infrastructures we build, like the monasteries in the Middle Ages, should seek to keep alive the intellectual and artistic traditions that make a civil society, humanism and the common good possible. Access to parcels of agricultural land will be paramount. We will have to grasp, as the medieval monks did, that we cannot alter the larger culture around us, at least in the short term, but we may be able to retain the moral codes and culture for generations beyond ours. Resistance will be reduced to small, often imperceptible acts of defiance, as those who retained their integrity discovered in the long night of 20th-century fascism and communism.

We stand on the cusp of one of the bleakest periods in human history when the bright lights of a civilization blink out and we will descend for decades, if not centuries, into barbarity. The elites have successfully convinced us that we no longer have the capacity to understand the revealed truths presented before us or to fight back against the chaos caused by economic and environmental catastrophe. As long as the mass of bewildered and frightened people, fed images that permit them to perpetually hallucinate, exist in this state of barbarism, they may periodically strike out with a blind fury against increased state repression, widespread poverty and food shortages. But they will lack the ability and self-confidence to challenge in big and small ways the structures of control. The fantasy of widespread popular revolts and mass movements breaking the hegemony of the corporate state is just that – a fantasy.

My analysis comes close to the analysis of many anarchists. But there is a crucial difference. The anarchists do not understand the nature of violence. They grasp the extent of the rot in our cultural and political institutions, they know they must sever the tentacles of consumerism, but they naïvely believe that it can be countered with physical forms of resistance and acts of violence. There are debates within the anarchist movement – such as those on the destruction of property – but once you start using plastic explosives, innocent people get killed. And when anarchic violence begins to disrupt the mechanisms of governance, the power elite will use these acts, however minor, as an excuse to employ disproportionate and ruthless amounts of force against real and suspected agitators, only fueling the rage of the dispossessed.

I am not a pacifist. I know there are times, and even concede that this may eventually be one of them, when human beings are forced to respond to mounting repression with violence. I was in Sarajevo during the war in Bosnia. We knew precisely what the Serbian forces ringing the city would do to us if they broke through the defenses and trench system around the besieged city. We had the examples of the Drina Valley or the city of Vukovar, where about a third of the Muslim inhabitants had been killed and the rest herded into refugee or displacement camps. There are times when the only choice left is to pick up a weapon to defend your family, neighborhood and city. But those who proved most adept at defending Sarajevo invariably came from the criminal class. When they were not shooting at Serbian soldiers they were looting the apartments of ethnic Serbs in Sarajevo and often executing them, as well as terrorizing their fellow Muslims. When you ingest the poison of violence, even in a just cause, it corrupts, deforms and perverts you. Violence is a drug, indeed it is the most potent narcotic known to humankind. Those most addicted to violence are those who have access to weapons and a penchant for force. And these killers rise to the surface of any armed movement and contaminate it with the intoxicating and seductive power that comes with the ability to destroy. I have seen it in war after war. When you go down that road you end up pitting your monsters against their monsters. And the sensitive, the humane and the gentle, those who have a propensity to nurture and protect life, are marginalized and often killed. The romantic vision of war and violence is as prevalent among anarchists and the hard left as it is in the mainstream culture. Those who resist with force will not defeat the corporate state or sustain the cultural values that must be sustained if we are to have a future worth living. From my many years as a war correspondent in El Salvador, Guatemala, Gaza and Bosnia, I have seen that armed resistance movements are always mutations of the violence that spawned them. I am not naïve enough to think I could have avoided these armed movements had I been a landless Salvadoran or Guatemalan peasant, a Palestinian in Gaza or a Muslim in Sarajevo, but this violent response to repression is and always will be tragic. It must be avoided, although not at the expense of our own survival.

Democracy, a system ideally designed to challenge the status quo, has been corrupted and tamed to slavishly serve the status quo. We have undergone, as John Ralston Saul writes, a coup d’état in slow motion. And the coup is over. They won. We lost. The abject failure of activists to push corporate, industrialized states toward serious environmental reform, to thwart imperial adventurism or to build a humane policy toward the masses of the world’s poor stems from an inability to recognize the new realities of power. The paradigm of power has irrevocably altered and so must the paradigm of resistance alter.

Too many resistance movements continue to buy into the facade of electoral politics, parliaments, constitutions, bills of rights, lobbying and the appearance of a rational economy. The levers of power have become so contaminated that the needs and voices of citizens have become irrelevant. The election of Barack Obama was yet another triumph of propaganda over substance and a skillful manipulation and betrayal of the public by the mass media. We mistook style and ethnicity – an advertising tactic pioneered by the United Colors of Benetton and Calvin Klein – for progressive politics and genuine change. We confused how we were made to feel with knowledge. But the goal, as with all brands, was to make passive consumers mistake a brand for an experience. Obama, now a global celebrity, is a brand. He had almost no experience besides two years in the senate, lacked any moral core and was sold as all things to all people. The Obama campaign was named Advertising Age’s marketer of the year for 2008 and edged out runners-up Apple and Zappos.com. Take it from the professionals. Brand Obama is a marketer’s dream. President Obama does one thing and Brand Obama gets you to believe another. This is the essence of successful advertising. You buy or do what the advertisers want because of how they can make you feel.

We live in a culture characterized by what Benjamin DeMott called “junk politics.” Junk politics does not demand justice or the reparation of rights. It always personalizes issues rather than clarifying them. It eschews real debate for manufactured scandals, celebrity gossip and spectacles. It trumpets eternal optimism, endlessly praises our moral strength and character, and communicates in a feel-your-pain language. The result of junk politics is that nothing changes, “meaning zero interruption in the processes and practices that strengthen existing, interlocking systems of socioeconomic advantage.”

The cultural belief that we can make things happen by thinking, by visualizing, by wanting them, by tapping into our inner strength or by understanding that we are truly exceptional is magical thinking. We can always make more money, meet new quotas, consume more products and advance our career if we have enough faith. This magical thinking, preached to us across the political spectrum by Oprah, sports celebrities, Hollywood, self-help gurus and Christian demagogues, is largely responsible for our economic and environmental collapse, since any Cassandra who saw it coming was dismissed as “negative.” This belief, which allows men and women to behave and act like little children, discredits legitimate concerns and anxieties. It exacerbates despair and passivity. It fosters a state of self-delusion. The purpose, structure and goals of the corporate state are never seriously questioned. To question, to engage in criticism of the corporate collective, is to be obstructive and negative. And it has perverted the way we view ourselves, our nation and the natural world. The new paradigm of power, coupled with its bizarre ideology of limitless progress and impossible happiness, has turned whole nations, including the United States, into monsters.

We can march in Copenhagen. We can join Bill McKibben’s worldwide day of climate protests. We can compost in our backyards and hang our laundry out to dry. We can write letters to our elected officials and vote for Barack Obama, but the power elite is impervious to the charade of democratic participation. Power is in the hands of moral and intellectual trolls who are ruthlessly creating a system of neo-feudalism and killing the ecosystem that sustains the human species. And appealing to their better nature, or seeking to influence the internal levers of power, will no longer work.

We will not, especially in the United States, avoid our Götterdämmerung. Obama, like Canada’s Prime Minister Stephen Harper and the other heads of the industrialized nations, has proven as craven a tool of the corporate state as George W. Bush. Our democratic system has been transformed into what the political philosopher Sheldon Wolin labels inverted totalitarianism. Inverted totalitarianism, unlike classical totalitarianism, does not revolve around a demagogue or charismatic leader. It finds expression in the anonymity of the corporate state. It purports to cherish democracy, patriotism, a free press, parliamentary systems and constitutions while manipulating and corrupting internal levers to subvert and thwart democratic institutions. Political candidates are elected in popular votes by citizens but are ruled by armies of corporate lobbyists in Washington, Ottawa or other state capitals who author the legislation and get the legislators to pass it. A corporate media controls nearly everything we read, watch or hear and imposes a bland uniformity of opinion. Mass culture, owned and disseminated by corporations, diverts us with trivia, spectacles and celebrity gossip. In classical totalitarian regimes, such as Nazi fascism or Soviet communism, economics was subordinate to politics. “Under inverted totalitarianism the reverse is true,” Wolin writes. “Economics dominates politics – and with that domination comes different forms of ruthlessness.”

Inverted totalitarianism wields total power without resorting to cruder forms of control such as gulags, concentration camps or mass terror. It harnesses science and technology for its dark ends. It enforces ideological uniformity by using mass communication systems to instill profligate consumption as an inner compulsion and to substitute our illusions of ourselves for reality. It does not forcibly suppress dissidents, as long as those dissidents remain ineffectual. And as it diverts us it dismantles manufacturing bases, devastates communities, unleashes waves of human misery and ships jobs to countries where fascists and communists know how to keep workers in line. It does all this while waving the flag and mouthing patriotic slogans. “The United States has become the showcase of how democracy can be managed without appearing to be suppressed,” Wolin writes.

The practice and psychology of advertising, the rule of “market forces” in many arenas other than markets, the continuous technological advances that encourage elaborate fantasies (computer games, virtual avatars, space travel), the saturation by mass media and propaganda of every household and the takeover of the universities have rendered most of us hostages. The rot of imperialism, which is always incompatible with democracy, has seen the military and arms manufacturers monopolize $1 trillion a year in defense-related spending in the United States even as the nation faces economic collapse. Imperialism always militarizes domestic politics. And this militarization, as Wolin notes, combines with the cultural fantasies of hero worship and tales of individual prowess, eternal youthfulness, beauty through surgery, action measured in nanoseconds and a dream-laden culture of ever-expanding control and possibility to sever huge segments of the population from reality. Those who control the images control us. And while we have been entranced by the celluloid shadows on the walls of Plato’s cave, these corporate forces, extolling the benefits of privatization, have effectively dismantled the institutions of social democracy (Social Security, unions, welfare, public health services and public housing) and rolled back the social and political ideals of the New Deal. The proponents of globalization and unregulated capitalism do not waste time analyzing other ideologies. They have an ideology, or rather a plan of action that is defended by an ideology, and slavishly follow it. We on the left have dozens of analyses of competing ideologies without any coherent plan of our own. This has left us floundering while corporate forces ruthlessly dismantle civil society.

We are living through one of civilization’s great seismic reversals. The ideology of globalization, like all “inevitable” utopian visions, is being exposed as a fraud. The power elite, perplexed and confused, clings to the disastrous principles of globalization and its outdated language to mask the looming political and economic vacuum. The absurd idea that the marketplace alone should determine economic and political constructs led industrial nations to sacrifice other areas of human importance – from working conditions, to taxation, to child labor, to hunger, to health and pollution – on the altar of free trade. It left the world’s poor worse off and the United States with the largest deficits – which can never be repaid – in human history. The massive bailouts, stimulus packages, giveaways and short-term debt, along with imperial wars we can no longer afford, will leave the United States struggling to finance nearly $5 trillion in debt this year. This will require Washington to auction off about $96 billion in debt a week. Once China and the oil-rich states walk away from our debt, which one day has to happen, the Federal Reserve will become the buyer of last resort. The Fed has printed perhaps as much as two trillion new dollars in the last two years, and buying this much new debt will see it, in effect, print trillions more. This is when inflation, and most likely hyperinflation, will turn the dollar into junk. And at that point the entire system breaks down.

All traditional standards and beliefs are shattered in a severe economic crisis. The moral order is turned upside down. The honest and industrious are wiped out while the gangsters, profiteers and speculators walk away with millions. The elite will retreat, as Naomi Klein has written in The Shock Doctrine, into gated communities where they will have access to services, food, amenities and security denied to the rest of us. We will begin a period in human history when there will be only masters and serfs. The corporate forces, which will seek to make an alliance with the radical Christian right and other extremists, will use fear, chaos, the rage at the ruling elites and the specter of left-wing dissent and terrorism to impose draconian controls to ruthlessly extinguish opposition movements. And while they do it, they will be waving the American flag, chanting patriotic slogans, promising law and order and clutching the Christian cross. Totalitarianism, George Orwell pointed out, is not so much an age of faith but an age of schizophrenia. “A society becomes totalitarian when its structure becomes flagrantly artificial,” Orwell wrote. “That is when its ruling class has lost its function but succeeds in clinging to power by force or fraud.” Our elites have used fraud. Force is all they have left.

Our mediocre and bankrupt elite is desperately trying to save a system that cannot be saved. More importantly, they are trying to save themselves. All attempts to work within this decayed system and this class of power brokers will prove useless. And resistance must respond to the harsh new reality of a global, capitalist order that will cling to power through ever-mounting forms of brutal and overt repression. Once credit dries up for the average citizen, once massive joblessness creates a permanent and enraged underclass and the cheap manufactured goods that are the opiates of our commodity culture vanish, we will probably evolve into a system that more closely resembles classical totalitarianism. Cruder, more violent forms of repression will have to be employed as the softer mechanisms of control favored by inverted totalitarianism break down.

It is not accidental that the economic crisis will converge with the environmental crisis. In his book The Great Transformation (1944), Karl Polanyi laid out the devastating consequences – the depressions, wars and totalitarianism – that grow out of a so-called self-regulated free market. He grasped that “fascism, like socialism, was rooted in a market society that refused to function.” He warned that a financial system always devolves, without heavy government control, into a Mafia capitalism – and a Mafia political system – which is a good description of our financial and political structure. A self-regulating market, Polanyi wrote, turns human beings and the natural environment into commodities, a situation that ensures the destruction of both society and the natural environment. The free market’s assumption that nature and human beings are objects whose worth is determined by the market allows each to be exploited for profit until exhaustion or collapse. A society that no longer recognizes that nature and human life have a sacred dimension, an intrinsic value beyond monetary value, commits collective suicide. Such societies cannibalize themselves until they die. This is what we are undergoing.

If we build self-contained structures, ones that do as little harm as possible to the environment, we can weather the coming collapse. This task will be accomplished through the existence of small, physical enclaves that have access to sustainable agriculture, are able to sever themselves as much as possible from commercial culture and can be largely self-sufficient. These communities will have to build walls against electronic propaganda and fear that will be pumped out over the airwaves. Canada will probably be a more hospitable place to do this than the United States, given America’s strong undercurrent of violence. But in any country, those who survive will need isolated areas of land as well as distance from urban areas, which will see the food deserts in the inner cities, as well as savage violence, leach out across the urban landscape as produce and goods become prohibitively expensive and state repression becomes harsher and harsher.

The increasingly overt uses of force by the elites to maintain control should not end acts of resistance. Acts of resistance are moral acts. They begin because people of conscience understand the moral imperative to challenge systems of abuse and despotism. They should be carried out not because they are effective but because they are right. Those who begin these acts are always few in number and dismissed by those who hide their cowardice behind their cynicism. But resistance, however marginal, continues to affirm life in a world awash in death. It is the supreme act of faith, the highest form of spirituality and alone makes hope possible. Those who carried out great acts of resistance often sacrificed their security and comfort, often spent time in jail and in some cases were killed. They understood that to live in the fullest sense of the word, to exist as free and independent human beings, even under the darkest night of state repression, meant to defy injustice.

When the dissident Lutheran pastor Dietrich Bonhoeffer was taken from his cell in a Nazi prison to the gallows, his last words were: “This is for me the end, but also the beginning.” Bonhoeffer knew that most of the citizens in his nation were complicit through their silence in a vast enterprise of death. But however hopeless it appeared in the moment, he affirmed what we all must affirm. He did not avoid death. He did not, as a distinct individual, survive. But he understood that his resistance and even his death were acts of love. He fought and died for the sanctity of life. He gave, even to those who did not join him, another narrative, and his defiance ultimately condemned his executioners.

We must continue to resist, but do so now with the discomforting realization that significant change will probably never occur in our lifetime. This makes resistance harder. It shifts resistance from the tangible and the immediate to the amorphous and the indeterminate. But to give up acts of resistance is spiritual and intellectual death. It is to surrender to the dehumanizing ideology of totalitarian capitalism. Acts of resistance keep alive another narrative, sustain our integrity and empower others, who we may never meet, to stand up and carry the flame we pass to them. No act of resistance is useless, whether it is refusing to pay taxes, fighting for a Tobin tax, working to shift the neoclassical economics paradigm, revoking a corporate charter, holding global internet votes or using Twitter to catalyze a chain reaction of refusal against the neoliberal order. But we will have to resist and then find the faith that resistance is worthwhile, for we will not immediately alter the awful configuration of power. And in this long, long war a community to sustain us, emotionally and materially, will be the key to a life of defiance.

The philosopher Theodor Adorno wrote that the exclusive preoccupation with personal concerns and indifference to the suffering of others beyond the self-identified group is what ultimately made fascism and the Holocaust possible: “The inability to identify with others was unquestionably the most important psychological condition for the fact that something like Auschwitz could have occurred in the midst of more or less civilized and innocent people.”

The indifference to the plight of others and the supreme elevation of the self is what the corporate state seeks to instill in us. It uses fear, as well as hedonism, to thwart human compassion. We will have to continue to battle the mechanisms of the dominant culture, if for no other reason than to preserve through small, even tiny acts, our common humanity. We will have to resist the temptation to fold in on ourselves and to ignore the cruelty outside our door. Hope endures in these often imperceptible acts of defiance. This defiance, this capacity to say no, is what the psychopathic forces in control of our power systems seek to eradicate. As long as we are willing to defy these forces we have a chance, if not for ourselves, then at least for those who follow. As long as we defy these forces we remain alive. And for now this is the only victory possible.

Joe Stack, a Rising Tide and a Restless Oligarchy

There is something in the air in America, something very big is happening. With the already lame duck Barack Obama administration having done more to delegitimize the myth that the government is there to serve the people and that the Bush years were but an aberration. Now after the Wall Street bailouts and the continuing exporting of American jobs to juice corporate profits, the undermining of serious health care reform and the escalation of both wars and the police state an extremely ominous undercurrent is rippling through the land and while still in the early stages it has the establishment terrified and circling the wagons.

The weekly column by Frank Rich of the damned librul [sic] New York Times is one of the first things that I read every Sunday morning and today’s offering is a mish-mash of conflation, myths and propaganda designed of course to protect the establishment. The piece, mockingly entitled The Axis of the Obsessed and Deranged starts off with the foreboding two paragraphs which I excerpt:

No one knows what history will make of the present — least of all journalists, who can at best write history’s sloppy first draft. But if I were to place an incautious bet on which political event will prove the most significant of February 2010, I wouldn’t choose the kabuki health care summit that generated all the ink and 24/7 cable chatter in Washington. I’d put my money instead on the murder-suicide of Andrew Joseph Stack III, the tax protester who flew a plane into an office building housing Internal Revenue Service employees in Austin, Tex., on Feb. 18. It was a flare with the dark afterlife of an omen.

What made that kamikaze mission eventful was less the deranged act itself than the curious reaction of politicians on the right who gave it a pass — or, worse, flirted with condoning it. Stack was a lone madman, and it would be both glib and inaccurate to call him a card-carrying Tea Partier or a “Tea Party terrorist.” But he did leave behind a manifesto whose frothing anti-government, anti-tax rage overlaps with some of those marching under the Tea Party banner. That rant inspired like-minded Americans to create instant Facebook shrines to his martyrdom. Soon enough, some cowed politicians, including the newly minted Tea Party hero Scott Brown, were publicly empathizing with Stack’s credo — rather than risk crossing the most unforgiving brigade in their base.

First off, I don’t really think that you can fairly lump all of the teabaggers into one group quite so easily, for example Glenn Beck, Ron Paul and Sarah Palin. Ron Paul is a consistently principled man who has done more to stand against the imperialist gangster state in the last several years than anyone elso other than maybe Dennis Kucinich who is much easier marginalized than Paul. Glenn Beck is a half batshit crazy multimillionaire former shock jock turned FOX propagandist and the faction of the Tea Party that he represents are largely igoramuses, racists and useful idiots who lack the principles of Ron Paul. Mega-star Sarah Palin is largely a creation of the Weekly Standard/Commentary crowd and has already come out to herd the teabaggers to the GOP and has the allure to reinvigorate the ‘Christian’ fascists of the Religous Right whose militant shocktroops served the Bush administration and the Republican party so well until the disastrous overreach of the Terry Schaivo debacle followed by the exposure of Ted Haggard’s secret life and the death of Jerry Falwell.

Hell, I guess you can count me in with the anti-government types now that the government no longer exists as an entity to maintain infrastructure, act in the common good and maintain a level playing field but instead has been hijacked and weaponized against the people as we can see in the police state that is being built. Any government that has become that poisoned really has to go in my opinion, the path that was taken after JFK’s execution has led us here and we can thank the internet for allowing those of use who are awake to rage against the machine. But the internet is soon going bye-bye, at least in its current incarnation and it will as usual be under the guise of protecting the sheeple from those big bad terrorists that are in actuality running our own government and have been doing so for a good long time now. I know of many liberals and progressives who are slowly starting to lose their idea of a big benevolent government and coming to the belated realization that in 2010 the government IS the enemy.

Per Rich’s column I also see the John Birch Society being dragged out again. The JBS has quite often been mentioned these days as a painted up fake devil. MSNBC’s Keith Olbermann, when not doing his moronic falsetto imitations of his opposite numbers on FOX and horseface Rachel Maddow have both been going after the JBS for months. I would not be understating it in saying the Birchers have been getting more free publicity from the comedians and corporate hacks on what passes for the liberal media than they have in decades, I would not be surprised if their membership numbers are up as well. Now as I have mentioned before, I have worked at times with the JBS in fighting intrusions on civil liberties which seem to scantly bother either the teabaggers who were nowhere to be found during the worst years of the Bushreich or the bleeding heart types whose great crusade in these times of tyranny, endless war and economic devastation seems to be forcing gay marriage initatives down the throats of a populace that just isn’t quite evolved enough to swallow it therefore only feeding the freaks on the extreme right more bloody red meat. But really, the JBS, while there are many things where I disagree with them are actually far more liberal than the Obama administration on civil liberties issues so perhaps therein lies the need to demonize them. God knows that we can’t have what was stripped away in the aftermath of the American Reichstag Fire by Bush and Cheney restored.

As for quoting off of anything from the Southern Poverty Law Center I would take that very warily. It is only natural for skeptics to question the agenda of the institution (just as that of the ADL) as any sort of a really legitimate source of information. They too are masters at conflation and depend on the presence of demons to exist, the more demons the better. The piece by Frank Rich in a prominent paper that builds on a previous New York Times Tea Party story by David Barstow entitled Tea Party Lights Fuse for Rebellion on Right that conjures up the specter of Timothy McVeigh shows that they are going to be conducting a witch hunt across the internet and chances are a good deal of the people who come to this site and many, many others are going to be the prey.

As I recall, the Tea Party actually began with the 9/11 Truth movement and then also the Ron Paul people, it was only after Obama’s election that the establishment hacks like Rick Santelli, Wall Street pimp and the insipid multi-millionaire Beck hijacked it with Republican backing. Now I would also suspect a certain level of hard-line Zionist infiltration like the laughably transparent Birthers (leader Orly Taitz is yet another Israeli right-wing shill) to discredit Obama for not nuking Tehran, you could see that when Sarah Palin appeared in Nashville for the high-roller version of the National Tea Party Convention wearing that Israeli flag pin and later said that Obama could be reelected were he to attack Iran. I know the way the Israelis operate and there is no way that they are not stirring the pot with at least the Beckers and Palinazis with lot of assistance from the American neocon propagandists but those useful idiots aren’t the ones that scare the bejesus out of the greedy swine who run this place.

Rich and the rest of the elite establishment seem to be extremely scared of the actions of Joe Stack who flew his plane into an IRS office. Now I am neither a right winger nor a teabagger but I did read the Stack ‘manifesto’ and it had a contempt for the entire rotten system as a whole and could not be easily stuffed into any pre configured cartoon character. I even wrote a piece called In Defense of Joe Stack where I condemned the use of violence but agreed with the anti establishment message. There is undeniably a growing sense of anger in America and with the left being pretty much a non-factor in directing the rage towards serious and constructive change it creates a vacuum which unfortunately has filled up with some of the worst type of miscreant that this country has to offer….along with a lot of others who just have nowhere else to go and are being used as human shields.

The fear of a Joe Stack whose grievances transcend the traditional left vs right paradigm by not only calling out the IRS but the the rancid piece of crap that is the national health care system, the crony capitalist government and closes with a line out of the Communist Manifesto sends shivers up the spines the real rulers of this country. The one thing about what Rich refers to as an inchoate movement is that it could very easily evolve into something that is a serious threat to the looters and blood barters and their tax the hell out of the rest of us to build their police state, fund their illegal wars and enrich their criminal buddies on Wall Street.

The thing about the guy killed in the IRS office, Vernon Hunter is also something that has been making the rounds a good deal lately, kind of reminds me the sort of raw cynicism when during the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina Alabama Senator Jeff Sessions was trolling the wreckage looking for a corpse that could bolster the case for the estate tax to protect multimillionaire chiselers. I had more than a few of the corpse humpers and ambulance chasers attack my piece on Stack over what was in essence collateral damage.

Maybe it makes me a bad person because I could give a rat’s ass about the guy who got killed in the building, just like the people who got blown up in 9/11 (I pretty much share Ward Churchill’s sentiment about the Little Eichmanns) whose deaths at the hand of the shadow government justified a new century of raw tyranny because in a way we are all guilty of participation in this monstrous system. Hell, I could get killed in my damned car on the way to or from work every day, I always had this problem with the big contradiction of the average American life being worth more than the brown and non-Christian women and children who have our tax dollar funded bombs dropped on them. Americans have a peculiar reverence for life, the trainer that got killed by the whale at Sea World is practically causing a national outpouring of mourning but how many people were eradicated by U.S. drone strikes, bombs gone off target or people who are dying right here in the good ole US of A due to poverty, starvation and lack of health care?

So basically the IRS is a representative form of a larger tyranny and Joe Stack happened to strike a blow against it , we can argue all day about ideology but when it all comes down to it there are only two life forms in America post 9/11, vampires and cattle. I do find it more than a bit cynical that the ‘left’ is canonizing poor Vernon as some kind of national victim in order to try to affix the ‘terrorist’ label that is used so often as a bludgeon against them by the fascist elements of the right. Failed crusades have a way of wearing people down especially when the pigs who run the system only care about who is yoking the slaves and delivering them to the man.

Rich seems to be keeping alive a certain storyline that is going to be used in order to justify Cass Sunstein style infiltrations, more police state measures (maybe even naked boy scanners in shopping malls) and a demonizing of many law abiding American citizens who are inadvertently being sucked into groups of potentially violent individuals including racist white supremacists that the GOP and the neocons have used as shock troops in the Tea Party Movement.

I believe that if it were cleaned up with a lot of the scum sent packing, Glenn Beck turned off and more of an anti-establishment, anti-war, anti-Wall Street and pro-restoration of civil liberties along the lines of a Ron Paul only with an acceptance of angry progressives and liberals who don’t drink the FOX fascist Kool Aid that the Tea Party Movement could become a formidable threat to the whole corrupt system.

Which is of course why it must be seen by a populace growing madder by the minute as nothing more than through a lens of demonizing the more ostentatious and vile elements.
